Shutter Design Options

Customise your shutters with a range of design options including louvre sizes, tilt rods, and panel configurations.

Louvres Sizes

We offer a variety of louvre sizes:

  • 64mm, 76mm, 89mm, 114mm

The larger the louvre size, the more light you will see and have fewer louvres in the panel.

Hardware

All our shutter hinges are enamel coated as opposed to painted, which means that they are more hardwearing and less likely to chip and loose their coating.

Our hinges are available in 10 finishes: Antigue Brass, Bright Brass, Black, Nickel Plated, Stainless Steel, Brushed Nickel Planted, White, Pearl, Bisque and Sea Mist.

There is a supplement charged for the Nickel plated, brushed and stainless-steel hinges.

Roof catches, handles, ring pulls, and security bolts can also be fitted to all of our shutters.

Frames

At ShutterWise we appreciate that not everyone's tastes are the same, and different window types require specific frames. Our shutter frames are available in a range of different styles. Your shutters will be fitted in one of three ways:

  • Inside recess

  • Edge of recess

  • Outside recess

Our team will be able to advise on options and limitations at the sales or survey appointment.

Tilt Rod and Silent Tilt

We offer two ways of opening and closing your shutter louvres. If you are looking for a cleaner, more contemporary look the hidden (or “silent”) tilt rod option could be for you. This means that the silent tilt controls the louvres by a mechanism within the panel, so if you tilt on louvre, then the others move at the same time. Shutters with a silent tilt mechanism have a more modern, clean, sleek look.

The traditional way of operating shutters was with a tilt rod which is a visible rod on the inside of the panel that connects the louvres so they move at the same time. You can choose where the rod is located, either in the centre or off set to the side.

Mid Rail or Split Mechanism

A mid rail is usually added when you have a transom bar or line on your window. We use the mid rail to follow the design on your window. This also allows you to open the louvres above and below independently.

You can add a split mechanism to most designs if you want to split the louvres into two or more sections, allowing you to open different sections independently, allowing you more control over privacy and light.

AutoClose

This new, fully integrated upgrade option ensures that the louvres close automatically by pulling the ring-pull. It is available in all our hardwood materials and is ideal for bi-fold tracks or multi-fold configurations.

  • Closes the louvres for you

  • Simple and effective system

  • Time-saving device when there are multiple louvre operations

  • Protects the louvres from accidental clashes
